High School Students Using Their Ceramic Skills to Teach Pre School Students

The Adv. Sculpture and Ceramic students demonstrated  their artistic skills to Mrs. Barbieri's and Mrs. Coreira's Child Development Class when they created ceramic heart designs with their pre-school students!

The pre school students made two trips to the high school Sculpture and Ceramics, room C1-12, to work on clay Valentine projects .  They learned about the properties of clay and the process of ceramics. It was a collaborative project that combined the teaching skills of highschool students with the learning process of  preschool students.  There is a beautiful article in the Cranston Herald http://www.cranstononline.com/stories/To-Daddy-with-love,79122 that describes the connection of the students' ceramic hearts to a very special community project developed by The Child Development Program Director, Charlene Barbieri.  The collaborative ceramic project, along with other collaborative projects, created by the pre school students and high school faculty members, were part of   a community service project. The project inluded a video conference with a soldier serving in Afghanistan. The soldier, a former Cranston West graduate, is father to a child in Child Development
Program at Cranston West.
